Tír na nÓg Primary School, Ballyclare

Mission Statement

The Governors and staff of Tír na nÓg believe the school to be a vital part of the Catholic community. We are firmly committed to the aims of Catholic Education:

  • Providing effective, inclusive education and equal opportunities for all our children
  • Developing positive pastoral care systems in our school
  • Establishing close links with the home, the parish and the wider community

School Ethos

The traditional motto of Tír na nÓg Primary School, as seen on our school crest,  is “Labora et Ora” – “Work and Pray”. Indeed, the ethos of Tír na nÓg is that of a Catholic school where the partnership of the home, school, parish and extended family are of paramount importance.

More recently we have devised an additional motto, which we feel permeates the values and ethos of our school perfectly.

‘A school that is welcoming and inclusive to all communities, inspiring children to believe and achieve’

We place a great deal of emphasis on our partnership with parents. We believe that children learn best when home and school work together for their benefit. The policy of our school is to share positively with parents in creating a safe and caring environment where each child may reach their full potential in every aspect of their growth. It is our aim to build on these skills and promote a willingness and enthusiasm to learn more.
